Police investigate shoplifting and a report of theft of gas

City police were called to a local retail business regarding two shoplifting complaints on Friday. As a result a 19-year-old female was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and will be making a court appearance.
Weyburn police received a report of a theft of gas from a local gas station at about 8 p.m. on Friday. Video footage is being reviewed in an attempt to identify the vehicle, but at this time is thought to be a dark grey or black GMC truck.
Weyburn police received notification from a resident who had received what was believed to be a scam letter. This letter advised him that he had received a substantial inheritance, but the return address was noted as a Walmart location in Ontario. The matter is still under investigation.
A member of the Weyburn police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling in the city at about 4:50 p.m. on Saturday. The driver failed to stop even when the police lights and siren were activated. The 54-year-old male driver eventually stopped the vehicle near his residence. He was taken into custody and is facing charges of refusing to provide a breath sample and with evading and failing to stop for police.
The Weyburn police were called to a report of an assault involving estranged spouses the evening of Oct. 31. The matter was mediated at the time and remains under investigation.
While on patrol the city police came across a two-vehicle collision at First Avenue and Fifth Street on Nov. 3. The investigation revealed that an eastbound vehicle being driven by a 72-year-old female collided with a southbound vehicle being driven by a 25-year-old female. Both drivers were adamant they had a green light. No independent witnesses were identified.
The Weyburn police were called to a report of a distraught individual at about 9:45 p.m. on Nov. 3. The matter was mediated at the time, but later the individual was transported to the Weyburn General Hospital for observation.
A traffic stop was conducted at about 12:45 a.m. on Saturday. During the stop the 19-year-old female driver was suspected as having consumed alcohol and provided a roadside breath test. As a result of that test she received a 72-hour license suspension.
Weyburn police received a call from a 43-year-old male regarding a domestic assault that had just occurred at about noon on Sunday. Police attended to the residence, and as a result of the investigation took a 27-year-old female into custody. She is facing one charge of assault.
