City police were called to a disturbance in the mall on May 7. It was reported that a number of youths were causing problems by running and throwing items. Police attended and located some of those involved in the area. The youths were warned about their conduct.
Two 40-ounce bottles of liquor and a puppy were stolen from a residence by the home owner's son on Saturday; the incident is still under investigation.
City police attended a minor accident at the intersection of Coteau Avenue and 16th Street on Saturday. There were no injuries and both vehicles were drivable.
Two females attended the Weyburn Police Service on Saturday claiming to have been assaulted at the bar the previous evening. One of the females had bruising, broken glasses and her vehicle had been keyed. Police are continuing their investigation.
Police attended to the alley near 134 Government Road early on Wednesday morning to assist the Weyburn Fire Department who were responding for a fire call. The fire was quickly extinguished with minimal damage to the surrounding area. Subsequent investigation by both fire investigators and police has determined it was not accidental and the incident is being investigated as arson.
City police attended to the alley in the northeast area of the city around 1 a.m. on Thursday to assist the Weyburn Fire Department who was responding to a fire call. The fire was quickly extinguished but there was substantial damage to a fence and shed.
Shortly after, around 1:20 a.m. police attended to an alley in the northeast area of the city to assist the Weyburn Fire Department who was responding to another fire call. This fire was also quickly extinguished but a ski doo was destroyed. There was another fire reported in the alley behind Weyburn Junior High School, in the steel dumpster, and was also quickly extinguished with minimum damage. Subsequent investigation by both fire investigators and police has determined these fires were not accidental and are being investigated as arson.
Police investigated a report of an assault at a local bar around midnight on Sunday. The victim was a 29-year-old woman who is alleged to have been punched in the face by a 21-year-old woman.
Investigation led to the 21-year-old woman being charged for assault. She will appear in court on July 3.
Police were called to a noise complaint in the northeast part of the city on May 7. Upon arrival police found music being played loudly and warned the individual responsible. A short time later another complaint was received that the noise had continued from the same location. Police responded again and charged a 20-year-old male with a noise offence.
A complaint of a hit and run accident was received mid-afternoon on May 7 which had occurred earlier in the day when the complainant had their vehicle parked at the Walmart parking lot.
City police received a complaint around noon on May 8 of four or five vehicles driving erratically in the Souris Valley Grounds. The vehicles were gone on arrival of police, but witnesses described the vehicles as a red mini-van, a white half ton truck, and a smaller red car. The witnesses were unable to get license numbers.
Police responded to a report of an assault in the northeast area of the city on May 8. The subsequent investigation revealed that an altercation had occurred when an individual had returned to the residence to pick up some personal articles. The victim of the assault was not cooperative with police and no charges were laid.
Police received a report on May 8 that an unlocked vehicle had been entered and the complainants' wallet and contents had been stolen. There were no suspects.
Police attended to a construction site in the southwest area of the city for an altercation between three individuals over the noon hour on Wednesday. A dispute and altercation had occurred between an employee and employer. Police mediated the situation and no charges were laid.
Police received a mischief report around 5 p.m. on Wednesday where a house in the northeast area of the city had the front door damaged. This incident is still under investigation.
City police received information around 9 p.m. on Wednesday that a drunk male had left a downtown hotel and got into a vehicle. Police were able to locate the vehicle a short time later and a 50-year-old man was charged with impaired driving and refusal. He will be appearing in court on May 22.
Weyburn police received a report of a hit-and-run early the afternoon on Wednesday which had occurred in a parking lot in the downtown area. There are no suspects and the incident is still under investigation.
Police attended to a downtown bar for a report of a drunk female who was causing problems around 2:20 a.m. on Friday. Police attended and arrested a 45-year-old woman who was later charged with failing to comply with an undertaking. She was released when sober and will be appearing in court on June 5.
During the week members of the Weyburn Police Service, local RCMP, teachers and school staff served hot lunch to the children on behalf of the Kids Sport Program. Kids Sport is a local organization that helps fund kids involvement in sporting activities.
Members of the Weyburn Police Service also attended and served soup at Knox Hall at a fund raiser for the Hospital Foundation.
Police attended the Duchennes Walk through Souris Valley grounds. Police were present on the police RAZOR quad during the event.
As a result of the investigation into the mischief incident of May 6, where Weyburn police members who were on patrol noticed numerous bags of buns dumped on a number of streets throughout the city, five youths were identified as being responsible and were warned about their actions.
