The Estevan Police Service is recognizing a visitor to the city for a kind gesture this past weekend.

In the EPS’s report for the July 23 day shift, Sgt. Tyler McMillen noted the story of a 12-year-old girl from the U.S. who was in Canada to visit family members. The girl attended the Street Fair in the 1200-block of Fourth Street in downtown Estevan that day, and she located some Canadian currency that someone had mistakenly dropped on the street.

“Instead of keeping it, she and her family advised police of what they had found and the amount,” McMillen wrote.

While police were conducting a foot patrol at the street fair, an Estevan woman told police that she had lost some money somewhere on the street after purchasing ice cream for her young children.

McMillen noted that police were able to introduce the parties and the money was returned.

The EPS commends the young lady for her honesty and the good deed.
