During the reporting period, police responded to 86 calls for service.
Police wish to remind everyone that the week of April 29 to May 5 has been declared School Safety Patrol Week. Exercise extra caution in the school areas and watch for and obey the school safety patrollers. These Patrollers are there for the safety of our school children and perform a very valuable function.
*On April 27, police received a complaint regarding mischief to a vehicle. It appears that someone poured a substance (sugar) into the vehicle gas tank. The matter is still under investigation.
*On April 26, as a result of a traffic stop, a 20-year-old male from British Columbia with a learner's licence was issued a 30-day licence suspension for driving under the influence of alcohol.
*Police received a complaint regarding a 17-year-old female breaching her Court Order. She was located and arrested and was remanded in custody pending her next court appearance.
*On April 24, police began investigating a substantial internal fraud/theft from a local business. The matter is still under investigation.
*Police were called to a disturbance involving a very intoxicated male. The male was removed from the residence and taken home without further incident.
*Police received a complaint about erratic driving. As a result, a vehicle was located and stopped. A 16-year-old male with a Novice 1 licence was issued a 30-day licence suspension for driving under the influence of alcohol.
*On April 23, police began another investigation into what is commonly called the 'Grandparent Scam'. In this type of scam, the victim is contacted by either a long-lost relative in trouble or an 'authority' about how a relative is in trouble and needs legal fees.
*Police were called to attend a two-vehicle collision at Bison Avenue and Third Street. There were no injuries. A 19-year-old male was charged with disobeying a yield sign.
