Report from the Weyburn Police Service for the week of March 11 to 17:
During the reporting period, police received 72 calls for service.
*On March 17, police were called to a report of an individual refusing to leave one of the bars. Upon police arrival the male was gone but was located a short distance away. The 28-year-old male from Saskatoon was on numerous conditions. He was arrested and lodged in cells and will be facing two charges of breach of court orders.
*Police attended to an altercation at a private residence. As a result of the investigation, a 29-year old-male was arrested and will be charged with breaking and entering as well as assault. A 32-year old-male victim received minor injuries and was treated and released from the hospital.
*On March 16, police received a call regarding suspicious males trying to use a business venture to gain entry to a residence. Residents are urged to be cautious when dealing with door-to-door salesman. Please feel free to contact the police prior to your appointment. All door-to-door salespeople must also have a city licence and you can verify that with City Hall.
*March 15, police attended a domestic situation involving a 37-year-old male and a 31-year-old female. The situation was mediated with police assistance and no further police action was required.
*On March 14, police were called to a fight at a local bar. Upon arrival a 29-year-old male was arrested and taken to cells.
*Police were called to a physical altercation on a construction site. Upon arrival the altercation was over. Police remained to mediate the matter until the parties were separated. No further action was required.
*Police mediated a dispute at a local group home facility.
*Police were called to a fight at a local bar. The incident was over prior to police arrival and the unidentified parties were no longer present. No further action was taken.
*On March 13, police were called to deal with a domestic situation involving a separation. The situation was mediated without further involvement from the police.
*On March 12, police were called to a local store to investigate non-sufficient fund cheques they had received. The investigation involving a 38-year-old male is ongoing.
*On March 11, police received a call regarding a neighbour blowing snow into the back alley. Strictly speaking the provisions of the littering bylaw applies even to snow. Under the bylaw, snow from private property cannot be placed on a public street or lane. Weyburn has obviously had a large amount of snowfall in a short time period making meaningful cleaning of property very difficult. Please try your best to be understanding at this time. The more snow blown or piled from a private residence on a street soon makes that street impassible and a problem for not only all local residents but emergency vehicles as well.
