Southeast College is busy making preparations for its 18th annual Weyburn Swing for Scholarships Golf Tournament.
All proceeds from the tournament help fund the Southeast College scholarship and bursary program, which provides entrance scholarships to students pursuing post-secondary training at all of Southeast College’s campuses. Last year the tournament raised over $34,000 and the goal is to meet or exceed that amount this year.
These tournaments are popular events in the golfing calendar and have continued to grow each year. This is a great way for the community to contribute to this important cause. Students enrolled in Southeast College full time programs this fall are eligible for $500 in entrance scholarships. Entrance scholarships are funded yearly with the College’s golf tournament proceeds.
With an entry fee of $125 per person, golfers will enjoy 18 holes in best-ball format at the Weyburn Golf Club, a power cart, a barbecue steak dinner, and a tournament gift.
Additional prize raffles and a 50/50 draw will be also held.
Tournament sponsorship is also available, which is another great way to participate in this worthy cause. All sponsorship and proceeds from the tournament are matched by the Ministry of Advanced Education’s Saskatchewan Innovation and Opportunity Scholarship program.
“We continue to build success with every tournament because people have such an enjoyable time,” said Dave Harazny, manager of Southeast College Advancement, adding that the tournament fills quickly, so interested golfers should register their team as early as possible.
