According to unofficial results, Roy Ludwig has been elected as the Estevan mayor for the third consecutive time.
With all polling station reporting at about 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 9, Ludwig received 1,632 votes. Ray Walton, who was the other candidate, received 682 votes.
There were 2,314 total votes for mayor.
Ludwig has been Estevan's mayor since 2012, and has been on council since 1994.
Walton was running for council for the first time.
As for the race for councillor, Shelly Veroba came in first with 1,874 votes, followed by Rebecca Foord (1,613 votes), Travis Frank (1,484 votes), Lindsay Clark (1,345 votes), Kirsten Walliser (1,187 votes) and Tony Sernick (1,025 votes). These six candidates will be the city councillors for the next four years.
Other candidates participating in the election were Geoff Thiessen (932 votes), Mark Henderson (889 votes), Blaine Chrest (783 votes), Bernadette Wright (717 votes) and Allan Yergens (512 votes).
For the first time in more than a decade, there will be three female members on city council. Lynn Chipley, Lori Carr and Shirley Thera were councillors from 2006-2009.
And three councillors (Frank, Foord and Walliser) are under the age of 35, meaning this will be one of the youngest city councils in history.
