There are 15 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Sept. 27, bringing the total to 1,878 reported cases.
Eight new cases are in the central east region. Four are from the Regina area, single cases are from the Saskatoon and north central areas, and one case’s location is pending.
Of the 1,863 reported cases, 144, or 7.7 per cent, are considered active.
Five more people have recovered, bringing the provincial total to 1,710, or 91 per cent of those diagnosed.
Seven people are in hospital receiving inpatient care; six of those are in Saskatoon and one is in Regina.
There have been 441 cases are from the south area (222 southwest, 200 south central, 19 southeast). Five cases are active in the southeast region; four are from the zone that includes Estevan.
As for the rest of the province, there are 382 cases are from the Saskatoon area, 358 cases are from the far north area (349 far northwest, nine far northeast); 276 cases are from the north area (132 northwest, 77 north central, 67 northeast); 248 cases are from the central area (175 central west, 73 central east); and 172 cases are from the Regina area.
Of the 1,878 cases in the province to date, 279 cases are travellers, 932 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 535 have no known exposures and 132 are under investigation by local public health.
Sixty-nine cases are healthcare workers; however, the source of the infections may not be related to healthcare in all instances.
A total of 322 cases involve people 19 years of age and under, 610 cases are in the 20-39 age range, 580 are in the 40-59 age range, 304 are in the 60-79 age range and 62 are in the 80-plus range.
Fifty-one per cent of the cases are females and 49 per cent are males.
Twenty-four deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported.
To date, 185,832 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. As of Sept. 25, when other provincial and national numbers are available from Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 130,260 people tested per million population. The national rate was 187,539 people tested per million population.
A total of 2,616 COVID-19 tests were performed in Saskatchewan on Saturday.
