Eight Saskatchewan residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. One new death in the age group 50-59 was reported in the North Central zone, one new death in the age group 60-69 was reported in the North Central zone, three new deaths in the age group 70-79 were reported in the Saskatoon (1) and Regina (2) zones, and three new deaths in the age group 80-plus were reported in the Saskatoon (1), Regina (1) and South Central (1) zones.
There are 252 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Dec. 19, bringing the provincial total to date to 13,329 cases.
Four new cases are in the South East region, including one in South East Zone 4, which includes Estevan. There are now three active cases in Zone 4.
Two new cases are in Zone 1, to the northwest of Zone 4, and one is in Zone 2, to the north of Zone 4.
There are now 108 active cases in the southeast region.
A total of 418 cases have been diagnosed in the southeast since mid-March.
The other new cases in Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (nine), Far North Central (three), Far North East (17), North West (41), North Central (42), North East (12), Saskatoon (57), Central West (five), Central East (24), Regina (29), South West (two), and South Central (four) zones. Three new cases have pending residence information.
Of the cases, 3,762 cases out of the 13,329 cases, or 28.2 per cent, are considered active.
Another 218 people have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 9,452, or 71 per cent of those diagnosed.
One hundred and twenty-seven people are in hospital. One hundred and seven people are receiving inpatient care: two in the Far North West, one in the Far North Central, seven in the North West, 20 in the North Central, three in the North East, 41 in the Saskatoon area, one in the Central West, three in the Central East, 23 in the Regina area and six in the South East. The number of people hospitalized in the southeast is up by one.
Twenty people are in intensive care: one in the North West, four in the North Central, 10 in the Saskatoon, four in the Regina and one in the South West zones.
The seven-day average of daily new cases is 227 (18.7 new cases per 100,000 population).
A total of 115 people with COVID-19 in Saskatchewan have died since mid-March.
There were 3,328 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Dec. 18. There were 133 tests performed in the southeast, bringing the total number of tests for the region to 21,260.
