Sask. COVID-19 update: four more deaths, 415 new cases, none in Estevan's zone

Four residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, have died. Two individuals were in their 70s and living in the southeast, one was in their 60s and from the Regina area, and one was in their 70s and from the far north.

There are 415 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Sunday, bringing the provincial total to date to 10,139 cases.

Six cases are from the southeast region. None of them are in Southeast Zone 4, which includes Estevan. Four cases are in Zone 1, which is northwest of Zone 4, and two cases are in Zone 3, which is west of Zone 4.

There are 164 active cases in the southeast region. Sixteen of those cases are in Zone 4, which is the same number as Saturday. 

A total of 331 cases have been diagnosed in the southeast since mid-March.

New cases from the rest of the province are located in the far northwest (15), far northeast (18), northwest (26), north central (39), northeast (10), Saskatoon (205), central west (5), central east (10), Regina (60), southwest (6) and south central (12). Three new cases have pending residence information.

The case numbers reported Sunday from Saskatoon reflect the correction from Saturday due to a data-related issue that has now been corrected.

Five Saskatchewan residents testing positive out-of-province were added to the total, four in the Saskatoon zone and one case has pending residence information.  Eleven cases were found to be out-of-province residents and were removed from the counts. Three of these cases were previously assigned to the northwest, central west and southeast, and eight cases had pending residence information.

Four cases with pending residence information have been assigned to the north central, and single cases have been assigned to the northeast and central east.

Of the 10,139 reported cases, 4,550, or 44.9 per cent, are considered active. 

Forty-six more people have recovered, bringing the provincial total to 5,530 recoveries, or 54.5 per cent of those diagnosed. The number of recoveries for the southeast region remains at 161.

One hundred thirty-five people are in hospital. There are 109 people receiving inpatient care: eight in the northwest, 13 in the north central, one in the northeast, 45 in Saskatoon, one in the central east, 18 in Regina, three in the southwest, one in the south central and 19 in the southeast zones. There is one more person in hospital in the southeast since Saturday. 

Twenty-six people are in intensive care: five in north central, 12 in Saskatoon and nine in the Regina zone.

Fifty-nine deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported to date. Six of the deaths are from the southeast.

There were 3,846 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on Saturday. A total of 170 tests were from the southeast.
