There are three new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Aug. 23, according to the Ministry of Health, bringing the total to 1,600 reported cases.
Single cases have been reported in the southwest, north central and Regina regions.
Of the 1,600 reported cases, 106, or 6.6 per cent, are considered active.
Fourteen more people have recovered, bringing the Saskatchewan total to 1,472, or 92 per cent of those diagnosed with COVID.
Five people are in hospital. One person is receiving inpatient care in Saskatoon. Four people are in intensive care, all in Saskatoon.
Investigations completed thus far have found that 69 of 106 active cases are in communal living settings.
There are 413 cases from the south area (213 southwest, 189 south central, 11 southeast). None of the cases in the southeast are active.
As for the rest of the province, 352 cases are from the far north area (346 far northwest, zero far north central, six far northeast), 258 cases are from the north area (123 northwest, 69 north central, 66 northeast), 251 cases are from the Saskatoon area, 194 cases are from the central area (161 central west, 33 central east) and 132 cases are from the Regina area.
Of the 1,600 cases in the province, 232 cases are travellers, 823 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 479 have no known exposures and 66 are under investigation by local public health.
Sixty-five cases are healthcare workers; however, the source of the infections may not be related to healthcare in all instances.
A total of 261 cases involve people 19 years of age and under, 515 cases are in the 20-39 age range, 492 are in the 40-59 age range, 276 are in the 60-79 age range and 56 are in the 80-plus range.
Fifty-one per cent of the cases are females and 49 per cent are males.
Twenty-two deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported.
To date, 130,913 COVID‐19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. As of Aug. 21, when other provincial and national numbers were available from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 94,156 people tested per million population. The national rate was 135,058 people tested per million population.
There were 1,260 COVID-19 tests performed in Saskatchewan on Saturday.
