ESTEVAN — The Estevan Fire Rescue Service continues to have a crew in northern Saskatchewan to protect the Patuanak area from the ongoing fire risk.
In an Aug. 11 email, the Estevan Fire Rescue Service said firefighter Nolan LaCoste reported up north Aug. 8 to relieve firefighter Colby Wainman. LaCoste joins John Wells, Ben Brokenshire and Darson Gunnlaugson.
Fire Chief Rick Davies said the EFRS anticipates another crew swap this coming weekend.
LaCoste spent 18 consecutive days in northern Saskatchewan, starting July 14. He returned to Estevan for a week on Aug. 2 before heading back to Patuanak.
Wainman has spent a total of 19 days up north, thanks to 12 days at the start of the deployment and seven more days this month.
Wells, Brokenshire and Gunnlaugson have been in the Patuanak area since Aug. 1.
The EFRS is also continuing firefighter recruitment. Prospective firefighters can pick up an application form at the EFRS building.
Hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The deadline is Aug. 29.
