Two residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have died. One new death in the 70-79 age group was reported in the Regina zone, and one new death in the 80-plus age group was reported in the Regina zone.
There are 245 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Dec. 18, bringing the provincial total to date to 13,077 cases.
Five of the new cases are in the southeast region. None of the cases are in South East Zone 4, which includes Estevan. One case is in Zone 1, to the northwest of Zone 4, and four cases are in Zone 2, to the north of Zone 4.
Two more people in Zone 4 have recovered, leaving the region with just two active cases. South East Zone 4 continues to have the fewest number of active cases in the province.
Seven of the 32 sub-zones in Saskatchewan have fewer than 10 active cases.
There are 107 active cases in the southeast region, which is down 23 from the previous day.
The other new cases in Saskatchewan are located in the Far North West (12), Far North Central (one), Far North East (28), North West (53), North Central (16), North East (14), Saskatoon (46), Central West (5), Central East (4), Regina (42), South West (2), and South Central (7) zones, and 10 new cases have pending residence information.
Six previously reported cases with pending residence information were assigned to the north central, and one is the far north central.
Of the cases, 3,736 out of the 13,077, or 28.6 per cent, are considered active.
Another 485 people have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 9,234, or 70.6 per cent.
One hundred and twenty-one people are in hospital. One hundred and four people are receiving inpatient care: three in the Far North West, eight in the North West, 20 in the North Central, 41 in the Saskatoon region, one in the Central West, two in the Central East, 24 in the Regina region and five in the South East zones. The number of people in hospital from the southeast is unchanged from the previous day.
Seventeen people are in intensive care: five in the North Central, nine in the Saskatoon and three in the Regina zones.
The seven-day average of daily new cases is 230 (19 new cases per 100,000 population).

A total of 3,171 COVID-19 tests were processed in Saskatchewan on Dec. 17, including 149 in the southeast region. A total of 21,127 have been processed in the region since mid-March.
