There are 27 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on July 24, according to the Ministry of Health, bringing the total to 1,099 cases.
Twenty-four cases are in the south region. There is also one case in each of the central, north and Regina regions.
Of the 1,099 reported cases, 235, or 21.4 per cent, are considered active.
Ten more people have recovered, bringing the total to 848. Approximately 77 per cent of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in this province are considered recovered.
Of the 27 cases reported Friday, 21 are from colonies in the southwest and west central regions. There are currently 21 Hutterite communities with active cases in both southwest and west central regions.
As of July 24, there are 189 total cases (active and recovered) in the southwest region: 172 of these are on 11 colonies and 17 are in the general community.
In the west central region, there are 93 total cases (active and recovered): 76 are on 10 colonies and 17 are in the general community.
Fourteen people are in hospital. Ten people are receiving inpatient care; five in Saskatoon, two in the south, one in the north, one in Regina and one in the central region. Four people are in intensive care; three in Saskatoon and one in the south.
A total of 220 cases have been diagnosed in the south; 132 cases are considered active. There have been 347 cases from the far north, 218 are from the Saskatoon area, 129 from the north, 97 from the central region and 88 from the Regina area.
Of the 1,099 cases in the province, 197 cases are travellers, 571 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 216 have no known exposures; and 115 are under investigation by local public health.
Overall in Saskatchewan:
Fifty-nine cases are health care workers; however, the source of the infections may not be related to health care in all instances.
A total of 169 cases involve people 19 years of age and under, 364 cases are in the 20-39 age range, 345 are in the 40-59 age range, 187 are in the 60-79 age range and 34 are in the 80-plus range.
Fifty-one per cent of the cases are females and 49 per cent are males.
Sixteen deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported.
To date, 87,988 COVID‐19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. As of July 22, when other provincial and national numbers were available from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 63,850 people tested per million population. The national rate was 98,361 people tested per million population.
An all-time high of 1,604 COVID-19 tests were performed in Saskatchewan on Thursday.
