A number of events have been scheduled to help celebrate Saskatchewan Library Week, which is Oct. 16-22, at the Weyburn Public Library.
The week kicked off on Sunday afternoon with family games in the program room, and “Storybird” was held on Monday. Children aged six to 14 could come in and write their own story, and the library published a copy of it for them for free.
On Tuesday, library patrons could come in during the day and tell staff why they love their library, and they received a prize.
There will be a family movie night tonight, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m., as the library will show “The Goonies”. Families can come and bring a drink, and the library will supply the popcorn.
The library will feature free coffee and sweets all day on Thursday, Oct. 20 for adult patrons.
The Fairytale Theatre will be held on Friday, Oct. 21 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. There will be a “tickle trunk” available and children aged six to 12 can dress up and act out their own fairytales.
Twitter treats will be the feature on Saturday, Oct. 22, as all day patrons can follow the library on Twitter as clues will be posted about “hidden treasures” at the library.
Throughout the week as well is the jellybean contest, where anyone can enter for a chance to win a prize package worth over $100.
