The Weyburn Beavers, Cubs and Scouts are holding their annual Kub Car Races on Saturday, February 22 at 1 p.m. at City Centre Mall.
"Previous to the event, the kids are given kits to build their cars then they race them," said Lise Soles, Fifth Weyburn Cub Leader.
They spend the weeks leading up to the event building, sanding and painting their cars, and then send them through courses such as a straight line where the vehicle travels a cooridor and an On the Spot race where the objective is to get the vehicle to the button, similar to curling.
The last race is for speed.
Winners of the event will be chosen and awarded at the Kub Kar Race.
Judging will also take place for design, paint and effort.
Information on scouting will be available at the races. Residents who would like to sign their children up may do so at the races. Soles said anyone wanting to join now may do so for half the cost of the normal membership.
