There are 78 new cases of COVID-19 to report in Saskatchewan on Oct. 31, bringing the total to 3,144 cases.
Forty-one new cases are in the Saskatoon region, and 18 are in the Regina area. As for the rest of the province, there are seven in the north central, six in the northeast, three in the northwest, two in the far northwest and one in the central east.
There are no new cases in the southeast – the first time in more than a week that there hasn’t been a new case.
There are 31 active cases in southeast Saskatchewan; 23 are in southeast Zone 4, which includes Estevan.
Public health investigations are underway to determine the source of transmission for all new cases. Of the 3,144 reported cases, 739 are considered, or 23.5 per cent, are considered active.
Eighty-one more people have recovered, a new single-day high for the province, bringing the Saskatchewan total to 2,380 recoveries, or about 75.7 per cent of those diagnosed.
Twenty-nine people are in hospital. Twenty-three people are receiving inpatient care: eight in the Saskatoon region, six in the Regina region, six in the north central region, two in the northwest and one in the northeast. Six people are in intensive care: four in Saskatoon, one in Regina and one in the north central region.
There have been 500 cases from the south area (229 southwest, 215 south central, 56 southeast).
As for the rest of the province, 802 cases are from the Saskatoon area, 624 are from the north area (193 northwest, 294 north central, 137 northeast), 440 cases are from the far north area (386 far northwest, zero far north central, 54 far northeast), 395 cases are from the Regina area, and 381 cases are from the central area (196 central west, 185 central east).
Two cases have pending residence location
Of the 3,144 cases in the province, 364 cases are travelers, 1,546 are community contacts (including mass gatherings), 793 have no known exposures and 441 are under investigation by local public health.
Ninety-nine cases are healthcare workers; however, the source of the infections may not be related to healthcare in all instances.
A total of 623 cases involve people 19 years of age and under, 1,146 cases are in the 20-39 age range, 887 are in the 40-59 age range, 406 are in the 60-79 age range and 82 are in the 80-plus range.
Fifty-one per cent of the cases are females and 49 per cent are males.
Twenty-five deaths related to COVID-19 have been reported.
To date, 263,053 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. As of Oct. 29, when other provincial and national numbers were available, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 176,818 people tested per million population. The national rate was 251,039 people tested per million population.
There were 2,720 COVID-19 tests performed in Saskatchewan on Friday.
