Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for the southeast

For the third straight day, Environment Canada has issued some form of a thunderstorm advisory for southeast Saskatchewan. The agency issued a severe thunderstorm watch Sunday afternoon at 2:32 p.m. for the region.

The agency issued a severe thunderstorm watch Sunday afternoon at 2:32 p.m. for the region.

It says that thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon as a cold front moves through southeastern Saskatchewan. Some of these thunderstorms may become severe.

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued Friday for the southeast. There were severe thunderstorm warnings in effect for many parts of the southeast on Saturday, including one for Estevan for more than 30 minutes early in the afternoon.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

A heat warning remains in effect for the southeast as well.
