For the second straight day, there are 18 new cases of COVID-19 to report in the South East region, according to the daily report released May 22.
Six of the new cases were reported in South East Zone 4, which includes Estevan. There are now 97 active cases in Zone 4, down from 104 the previous day.
There were 11 new cases in South East Zone 1, which is northwest of Zone 4, and one new case in Zone 2, which is north of Zone 4.
Saskatchewan has 180 new cases of COVID-19 to report on May 22, bringing the provincial total to 45,490, along with 184 recoveries and two deaths. Both deaths occurred in the South Central region.
A total of 526 people with COVID-19 in Saskatchewan have died.
The other new cases are located in the following zones: Far North West, 2; Far North East, 1; North West, 22; North Central, 23; North East, 6; Saskatoon, 54; Central West, 4; Central East, 17; Regina, 19; South West, 9; and South Central, 1. Four cases are pending residence information.
Recoveries now total 43,194. Another 23 people in the South East region have recovered, including seven from Zone 4.
A total of 1,770 cases are considered active, including 152 in the South East.
Four people are in hospital receiving in-patient care in the South East, down one from May 21. There are 120 people in hospital with COVID-19 in Saskatchewan, with 93 receiving in-patient care and 27 in intensive care.
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 160 (13.1 new cases per 100,000).
There were 3,429 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on May 21, including 248 in the South East region.
An additional 14,801 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 645,384. There were 650 from the South East.
Seventy-six per cent of those over the age of 40 have received their first dose. Sixty-nine per cent of those 30+ have received their first dose. Sixty-two per cent of those 18+ have received their first dose.
