The eXtreme tour will come to the Weyburn Skate Park to mark the 20th anniversary of the Weyburn Youth Center. A skateboard competition will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 7 and the eXtreme tour will be bringing six live bands to entertain at the Grandstands on Wed., Aug 8. The eXtreme tour promotes "extreme sports, extreme music and extreme life" and this will be their first time touring Canada. Brian Hopfe, executive director of the Weyburn Youth Center, noted that this event will be offered free to all interested youth because of the 20th anniversary. A huge skateboard competition will be held at the Weyburn Skate Park for the Tuesday. There is an opportunity for skaters to compete and win an endorsement, which would allow them to tour the United States as a Pro-Am skater.

Semi-professional skaters from the eXtreme tour will be at the Skate Park during the day, interacting with youth and giving tips to local skaters.

Then on the Wednesday, live entertainment starts at 6 p.m. It includes six different bands that will be held at the Grandstands. Hopfe noted that another group, "Street Invaders" will also be at the Skate Park. They will show up in the city on Saturday, July 28 and will stay until Sunday, Aug. 12, which means two different skate groups will be in Weyburn to help young skaters learn different trick and tips of the sport.

"This is exciting, it is huge for the city," said Hopfe. "We wanted to do something special for our anniversary for the youth. This fall we will be holding our banquet for the adults, and we are looking at changing it slightly for the anniversary."
