Spanish cyclist touring Canada stops in Pangman

Ingrid Eder-Carrizo, 61, a retired social worker from Spain, bicycled through Pangman and was the overnight guest at Darlene Kessler's on July 7. Ingrid left Halifax on May 1, and plans to be in Vancouver on Oct. 1, to fly home to Barcelona.

Ingrid left Halifax on May 1, and plans to be in Vancouver on Oct. 1, to fly home to Barcelona. Her husband and her two girls toured Canada through her marriage and she decided she wanted to see it all by biking through. She has biked across many continents already while her husband is biking shorter distances in France.

Hot temperatures hit the Pangman area over the last week with spotted rain showers as well. More rain is needed in the area.

The Pangman community will be welcoming their new residents by holding a community potluck supper on Friday, Aug. 10, at the gazebo park.

Come out with your produce and sell it at the Saturday Farmer's Market, every Saturday from 9 a.m-noon on Main Street in Pangman. While there you will be able to see the Southern Prairie Railway train coming to Pangman during the Farmers Market all summer long. Tables are available at no charge, the event runs rain or shine, and is an initiative of the Pangman and District Economic Development Board.

Debbie Kessler and her two grandsons, Maddox and Jaxson Mehnke from Ogema, motored to Moose Jaw on July 7, to stay as overnight guests at Debbie's sister, Cathy Outram's, before they motored to Calgary to visit with her sister Carol and Ron Keslier for a week.

Atley Morrow, from Kelowna, B.C., spent July 7 visiting with his uncle and aunt Bob and Norma Morrow at Sunnyview Place, also visiting another aunt, Vi Kessler.

The Pangman Swimming Pool has been very busy during the hot days of July. The pool is offering one set of lessons this summer from Aug. 13-17. Aquacize is being held every weekday morning from 8-9 a.m. The pool is also still in need of small life jackets.

Residents of Sunnyview Place participated in their weekly Bean Bag Toss game on July 10. In total 10 residents took part, playing 10 ends. Margaret George came in first place with a score of 55 points. Doris Sambrook came in second with 54 points and Helen Clark and Gerry Taylor tied for third place with 50 points.

Residents of Sunnyview Place also participated in their weekly bowling tournament on July 11. Eight residents played 10 frames and Effie Devine placed first with a score of 108 points. Ada Murray came in second with 89 points. Jen Webb placed third with a score of 74 points.

The two new residents at Sunnyview Place are Mary Martin and Margaret George.

Word was received on July 9 of the passing of a long-time resident Glen Svedahl, 84. The funeral is to be held at a later date.

A Slow-pitch tournament will be held in Pangman on Saturday, Aug. 4. To register your team, please call Cameron Klippenstine in Weyburn. During that evening the Pangman Street dance will be held starting at 7 p.m. Music will be supplied by Rockin' Rod.

The next Pangman and District Economic Development Board meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 30 at the Community Centre.
