Spring book sale coming up at Weyburn library

The library is taking donations of books for the spring book sale on April 27-29

WEYBURN – The spring book sale for the Weyburn Public Library is coming up on April 28-30, as a fundraiser for library supplies.

The sale is normally held twice a year and is organized by the Friends of the Library, with fiction and non-fiction, hard cover and soft cover, for ages from young children to adults in every genre.

Donations of books are being accepted now at the library. Donors are asked not to give any textbooks or encyclopedias.

The library will be holding an open mic night on Monday, April 25 at 6:30 p.m.

This will be an evening sharing poetry and music in celebration of April bring Poetry Month. If someone would like their music or poetry shared anonymously, they can contact Krista Klemmer, the adult programmer for the library.

The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) will hold a session about how to destress yourself on Monday, April 25 at 4 p.m. They will teach about what stress is, what we can do about it, and teach tips about how to deal with stress along with activities to help manage stress.

There will be some “days off fun” at the library during the Easter break. The activities on Thursday, April 21 are “Emojis at the library” and will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. for children aged six to 12.

A movie matinee is set for Friday, April 22, and the film will be “The Mitchells vs The Machines”.

For teens, there will be a VR afternoon today, April 20, when teens can book a time to use their Playstation VR and try it out.

A class in “Dorm room cooking” will be held for teens on Sunday, April 24 at 2 p.m. The class will teach about making spiced chicken and mango salad and hearty minestrone soup.

A guest program for adults will be held with a class in beginner macramé, on Tuesday, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. Georgia Lavallee of the Knotty Greek will teach the class.
