With the hot, dry summer weather, the Government of Saskatchewan would like to remind everyone of some basic fire tips to help ensure the safety of all residents this season.

Contact the Ministry of Government Relations at 1-866-404-4911 when planning a controlled burn in a rural area along with your local municipal office.

Remove potential fuel from your property such as dry grass, yard clippings and litter.

Pay attention to weather. Hot, dry, windy conditions are when most wildfires start. Be mindful of burning debris on such days.

Never leave a fire unattended.

Have access to hoses, fire extinguishers and a water source.

Always dial 9-1-1 in case of an emergency.

Until October 31, in and within 4.5 kilometres of the provincial forest, a burning permit is required. These are available free from the Ministry of Environment.
