Stoughton council okays request by local oil firm

Stoughton (cpd) - Gene Klebeck appeared before council on Oct. 21 representing Demon Oilfield (property owners on Maple Wind). He requested approval for living accomodation, along with a manager's suitefor theirstaff (work crews) to be built into their facility which will also house their offices, a reception area and shop. Numerous advantages were cited not only for Demon but also for the town in having their accomodation in one location. Approval was given conditional to the engineer's final approval.

Mark Payton has been hired for the landfill position.

An application for a building permit was received from Vic Katay forconsiderationof a pole construction storage/garage facility on his property.

Council agreed more information was needed.

Permission was given to Larry Breault, owner of Royal Tank Cleaner to dump human waste only into the town lagoon, with advance notice to be given to the town beforehand.

The owners of the new Pizza Place not yet open in town requested permission from council to have their commercial property also zoned residential. Council decided it needed to be first approvedby Doug Mulhull, the town's building inspector.

Bylaws were discussed for seacans, boulevards, noiseand home-based businesses.

It was decided that individuals or businesss who owe for sewer and water expenses to the town will have these amounts added to their property taxes.

Stoughton Playschool kids enjoyed a morning oftreating at local businesses around town on Oct. 31.

A rink board meeting was held in early October. On the executive are Erin and Roy Clark, Reanne Verbeem, Torrie Barmann, Matt Sangster, Mitchel Lyke, Loren Creighton, Trevor Elliott, Brad Gervais and Brendan Kysench.

The board is in the process of hiring a caretaker. The kitchen will be open this winter. Skating lessons will be offered, the teacher is Linnea Donnelly, ice time for forthree, four and five year olds will be available for hockey on Saturdays.

Fees have remain unchanged from last year. The rink schedule will be out soon, look for posters. A work-bee was held on Nov. 7.

Proceeds from the sale of tickets for the rec. board's Fly Away drawwill be used for tinning the side of the skating rink as well as for the construction of tennis and basketball courts and concrete for street hockey. This will be done in the space where the old curling rink was, adjacent to the swimming pool. There are still lots of tickets available.

Stoughton Apostolic Church is once again offering their very popularKid's Club every Friday, from Nov. 7-28 inclusive, after school to 5 p.m.

The finale will be held on Friday, Dec. 5, with a special programfrom 5-5:30for parents and other family and friends to attend.

The Kids Club is free of charge for ages K-6. They will be learning about travelling to Bethlehem, there will be snacks, stories, songs, crafts and prizes.

Stoughton will be losing the Good Fortune Cafe soon as the proprietors are moving away.
