Stoughton (cpd) - Stoughton Central School staff and students recognized "Pink Day" on Apr. 11, an annual anti-bullying awareness and prevention campaign sponsored by the Canadian Red Cross. Chris Getzlaf, player for the Grey Cup champion Sask. Roughriders, spoke to the students at the school.
The Stoughton Recreation Board swimming pool committee held a successful fundraiser on Apr. 11 at the Legion Hall. Farrell's (Insurance) Agency who bought out Tramer agencies in December 2013, collaborated with the town to help out with this worthy cause. The agency made it possible to have Chris Getzlaf, the 2013 Grey Cup Champion wide receiver to appear as the guest speaker at a supper held at the hall along with a silent auction. Over $20,000 was raised to go towards the cost of a new pool liner which will be about $80,000.
The Stoughton Lions Club held their annual reverse draw fundraiser at the Drop-in-centre on April 11. They made $2,080 net, with 210 tickets sold at $20 each. The $1,000 winner was Brad Tschetter, the $200 prize was split between Eleanor Adams and Melita Jess and the two $50 winners were Marilyn Bowes and Bev Kindrat, all of Stoughton.
