Yellow Grass (cpd) - The Summer Reading Program wrapped up on Friday, July 26 at the Yellow Grass Branch Library. It was be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. every Friday at the Yellow Grass Branch Library. There were 11 children were in attendance on July 5. "Little Spotted Cat", "Pigs to The Rescue", "I Really Want A Dog", and "The Good Little Bad Little Pig" were read by Betty Guest and the children colored a farm scene using dot-a-dot dabbers. A fridge magnet craft was done with a game of sock toes following. A snack of cookies and juice concluded the program.
On July 12, the program saw 18 children in attendance and Amy Thompson read "Stella Star of the Sea", "Alistair and Kip's Great Adventure", "Mister Seahorse", "Over in the Meadow" and "The Whales". The children used dot-a-dot dabbers to color a fish picture during the reading time. Following this, each child made an ocean in a bottle craft. Red light, green light was played in Allen Park and juice and cookies were served after the game.
The reading program held on July 19 had 17 children in attendance. "Scaredy Squirrel", Dinosaur Chase", "Tiger Trouble", "Crocodiles are the Best Animals of All" and "Do Kangaroos Wear Seat belts?" was read. Ocean life pictures were painted with glitter paint during storytime. A craft of a memo chalkboard was made. Shoe scramble was played in Allen Park and juice and cookies followed.
As of July 4, the boil water advisory, which had been on since the flood, in June of 2011, was lifted.
The Drop-In Centre has new carpet. A noon meal of hamburgers and hotdogs, salads and dessert will be held in the Drop In Centre on Monday, August 5.
Everyone is welcome. The Coffee and Muffins that were to be served in the centre on July 9 were served to July 16 because of continuing renovations.
On Tuesday, August 13, the Saskatchewan Science Centre will be in the Yellow Grass Legion Hall from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. This program is set up for children up to and including Grade 5. Snacks will be provided by the Yellow Grass Branch Library. Everything is free and everyone is welcome. The theme is "Here, There and Anywhere". Sponsoring the event is the Yellow Grass Branch Library and the Town of Yellow Grass.
Vacation Bible School will be held on Wednesday, August 14 to Friday, August 16 at the Yellow Grass United Church.
The Yellow Grass Branch Library was recently approved to carry DVDs which can now be checked out. The initial purchase of 41 DVDs was supported with funds supplied by the Yellow Grass Community Club. An additional 37 DVDs were supplemented by Southeast Regional Library Headquarters. DVDs can be checked out at the library and all that is necessary is a library card. The loan period for DVDs is seven days. There are children's, educational and adult DVDs.
The library will be closed on Monday, August 5 in recognition of the Civic Holiday and will be open again on Wednesday, August 7 from 3 to 7 p.m.

Shuffleboard was held in the Yellow Grass Golden Harvest Crop In Centre on July 12. Joan Harder and Donna Murray were winner of the A Team. Sophie Skulmoki and Bill Harder were winners of the B Team.
Crib was played at the drop in on Friday. Ruth Boren won first place, Rena Wilke placed second and Bing Jaster came in third.
