Sun Country parking fees now to be monthly

The Sun Country Health Region has made an adjustment to their proposed parking fees to be charged to their employees, and will now charge the fees on a flat monthly basis instead of the $1 per shift fee as originally proposed.

The Sun Country Health Region has made an adjustment to their proposed parking fees to be charged to their employees, and will now charge the fees on a flat monthly basis instead of the $1 per shift fee as originally proposed.
The health region were given concerns by their employees, and have made the change to the parking fees as a result.
The monthly fee rate has not been finalized yet, but is expected to be released soon, and the fee will now not take effect until April. The parking fees were originally to start up on Feb. 7.
The fees collected by Sun Country will still be kept separate from their general revenues, as originally proposed.
As reported in the Weyburn Review on Jan. 13, Sun Country has 28 sites to deal with, and would like to use these fees to help with the maintenance of the parking lots, and to help pay for the electricity for the plug-ins.
At that time, John Knoch, vice-president of corporate and finance, said the region had basically two options with restricted funds: reduce expenses or to increase revenues.
He noted the health region is not looking to charge high fees such as health care employees in Regina and Saskatoon have to pay.
In the memo that Sun Country sent out originally, they said, “During a time of budget restraint, SCHR chooses to use revenue from the Ministry of Health for health care services rather than to maintain parking lots.”
