The organizers of the 2020 Rafferty Rumble have announced that the event has been cancelled.
The decision was revealed on the event’s Facebook page Tuesday afternoon.
“Due to the uncertainties around large gatherings, and the tough economic times for residents, businesses and our city, we have made the decision to cancel the event for 2020,” the Facebook post said.
A date for 2021 will be shared in the coming months.
Any tickets that had been purchased in advance will be honoured for 2021.
The Rumble was brought back in 2019 after an absence of many years, and proved to be a huge success for the community. Large crowds gathered on Fourth Street for a street fair, market and music from Saskatchewan bands in the morning and afternoon, and a street dance at night.
Many organizations in the community held activities that weekend as well, creating activities for people of all ages.
Revenues from the activities on Fourth Street went to the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum, while the organizations that held their own events were able to keep their proceeds. The Fourth Street events proved are believed to be the biggest fundraisers in the history of the Estevan Art Gallery and Museum.
The committee is thankful to the festival goers for their support in the past and they say they look forward to rumbling again next year.
