The Assiniboia & District Museum is hosting a fundraiser on Tuesday, November 5 from 4:30-7:30 at Andy’s Restaurant on 305 First Avenue West with a Chinese smorgasbord. The door entry fee is $15 for adults and $8 for children aged 12 and under as per seating. Tickets for the event will be available at the door, or interested parties can call 306-642-5353. There will also be a 50/50 draw at Tuesday’s fundraiser in November.
Assiniboia’s museum will be closed from November 15-March 15, although a call for a viewing can be arranged. During the summers, Assiniboia’s historical centre is open June, July and August for seven days a week from 10-5 p.m. with hours altering in the off season.
The Assiniboia & District Museum is part of South Central Museums of Saskatchewan, serving tourists, students and people who want to know more about this region’s history. The town’s museum truly has something for everyone, with historic car displays, vintage agricultural equipment, antique toys, period clothing from the early 20th century, antiquated cameras, bygone sports equipment and historical archives – this list is by no means completed.
The wheelchair accessible museum in Assiniboia is located on 506 First Avenue West. Without the museum, Assiniboian’s would lack a connection to the region’s wealth of history. The museum has also been involved with many spectacular community events over the years, such as the Southern Cruisers Fall Show ‘N Shine held on September 21, 2019 on the museum’s grounds. Motorists arrived from all over the province to attend the Assiniboia & District Museum, where they viewed a wide array of vintage family vehicles, trucks and sports cars.
“The Assiniboia & District Area Museum is always looking for a way to raise funds to keep the museum experience fun and educational. By hosting different fundraisers with the help of local businesses and with the town people’s generosity, this is what keeps us going. Please come out to enjoy a great meal, have a visit with friends and family at Andy’s Family Restaurant on November 5 from 4:30 till 7:30,” said Randy Gaveronski, the museum’s coordinator.
