Scholarships and trophies were handed out to the top performers of the Weyburn Music Festival, interspersed with chosen performances, at the Stars of the Festival held Thursday evening in the Cugnet Centre.
The recipients of the scholarships along with the performers were chosen by the adjudicators of the Music Festival.
After performing O Canada to open the evening, the Combined Grade 10-12 choir then performed their pieces and were awarded the Jerry Mainil Ltd. vocal prize of $400.
The YF Wives vocal prize went to the Haig School Grades 4-6 choir, with a $100 prize and shield.
The MC Music Craft award for piano for a Canadian piece, for 12 and under, went to Lindsay Van De Weyer and Bridget Alexander.
The MC Music Craft prize of $50 for a piano duet went to Shayne Frederick and Ross Van De Weyer.
The Weyburn Music Festival trophies for vocal 12 and under went to Donald Alexander and Mojet Adediji.
The Weyburn Music Festival trophies for individual verse went to Kieran Hamel and Mason Sidloski. The Weyburn Music Festival trophies for instrumental were presented to Jayda Cameron and Emily Richards.
The Weyburn Music Festival trophies for piano went to Josee Hutt and Camryn Greve.
The Holy Family Roman Catholic School Division prize for vocal ensemble went to the group including Olivia Barber, Tylan Charlton, Kate Gibbs and Emma Von Hagen.
The St. Michael School Community Council prizes for instrumental went to Mikaila Mahnke, Megan Dutchak, Zach Giroux, E. Duterte and Chaylene Lascelle.
The Western Financial Group $50 prize for instrumental performance went to Kaylee Bjarnason.
The Western Financial Group trophies for piano, 12 and under, went to Ben Manning and Mason Sidloski.
The Weyburn Credit Union awards for piano included a $75 prize to Khloe Bedore, and a $50 prize to Faith Bratrud. The Credit Union prize for vocal of $125 went to Mikaila Mahnke.
Two $100 prizes from Southeast Cornerstone for vocal performance were awarded to the Comp’s STARS Show Choir, and to the Queen Elizabeth School kindergarten class.
Three Cornerstone $100 prizes for instrumental went to Cameron MacMurchy and Emma Fletcher, Souris School Grades 4-6, and the St. Michael School Grade 9 band.
The Bruce Robinson Memorial Award for piano, consisting of $100 and a trophy, went to Shayne Frederick.
The Weyburn Elementary Schools Community Councils prize of $25 and a trophy, went to Assiniboia Park School Grades 1-2 choir.
The Prairie Sky Co-operative Association prize of $300 and a trophy for best performance by a band went to the Comp School Concert Band.
The Weyburn Inner Wheel prize of $100 for instrumental went to Rumina Edgerton.
The Barber Motors award for vocal, worth $250, went to Lindsay Van De Weyer.
The Weyburn Arts Council award for piano, worth $150, went to Kristen Keith.
The TRG Bookkeeping award for piano, four trophies, went to Caroline Manning, Addison Klapak, Sidney Sidloski and Lana Hamel.
The Stewart Steel award for vocal, worth $300, went to the Assiniboia Park School Grades 1-3 choir.
The Weyburn Community Involvement award for instrumental, worth $100, went to Haig School Grades 4-5.
The Quota International of Weyburn award for individual speech, worth $50, went to Sidney Sidloski.
The Quota award for brass, worth $50, went to Arliss Sidloski.
The Weimer’s Hometown award for vocal, worth $75, went to Jayda Cameron.

Weyburn Security had four awards, including a $200 prize for vocal, which went to Ross Van De Weyer, and a $100 prize which went to the Weyburn Junior High Mixed Choir, a $150 prize for piano which went to Kristen Keith, and a multidisciplinary award for $150 which went to Mitch Bellefleur.
The Beta Sigma Phi XiXi chapter award for piano, worth $100, went to Tylan Charlton.
The Weyburn School Music Auxiliary trophies for instrumental went to Shayne Frederick, Taylor Cameron and the Grade 9 Trombone Trio.
The Weyburn School Music Auxiliary trophies for vocal went to Ensley Akins, Ross Van De Weyer, and a group including Ross Van De Weyer, Taylor and Jayda Cameron.
The Order of the Eastern Star award for piano duet, worth $50 each, went to Lana Hamel and Lindsay Van De Weyer.
