The May 15 COVID-19 update for Saskatchewan shows that there have been 196 new cases of the virus diagnosed in Saskatchewan, including 13 in the South East.
Twelve of those new cases are in South East Zone 4, which includes Estevan. The number of new cases is more than offset by 22 recoveries in Zone 4.
There are now 147 active cases in Zone 4.
The other new case in the South East is in Zone 3, which includes Weyburn.
One new death was reported in the 80+ age group from the Regina zone. A total of 516 people with COVID-19 in Saskatchewan have died since the pandemic began.
The other new cases are located in the following zones: Far North West, 3; Far North East, 4; North West, 19; North Central, 21; North East, 2; Saskatoon, 67; Central West, 3; Central East, 20; Regina, 26; South West, 9; and South Central, 5. Four new cases have pending residence information.
One case with previous pending residence has been assigned to the South East.
Another 207 people have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 41,776. Thirty-one of the new recoveries are from the South East.
A total of 2,072 cases are considered active, including 207 in the South East.
Three people are in hospital in the South East, the same number as May 14. There are 144 people in hospital in Saskatchewan, with 118 receiving in-patient care and 26 in intensive care.
The seven-day average of new COVID-19 case number is 193 (15.7 new cases per 100,000).
There were 3,511 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan on May 14, including 173 in the South East.
An additional 18,568 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 571,957. Included in that total is 1,168 doses for the South East.
Seventy-three per cent of those over the age of 40 have received their first dose. Sixty-five per cent of those 30+ have received their first dose. Fifty-five per cent of those 18+ have received their first dose.
