UPDATE: Weyburn fire fighters called to truck fire

Weyburn fire fighters responded to a fire call on Brimacombe Drive late on Thursday evening, with two fire trucks and several members on the scene.

Weyburn fire fighters responded to a fire call on Brimacombe Drive late on Thursday evening, with two fire trucks and several members on the scene.

They doused a fire in the engine compartment of a diesel truck parked on the driveway of a residence, and ensured that the house did not sustain any damage from the fire. The fire spread to the interior of the truck, and was extinguished quickly.

There were no injuries in the fire, as the residents were inside the home at the time, and the fire was called in by a neighbour. Police were able to attend and helped to evacuate everyone safely.

Deputy chief Denis Poulin said there was some damage to the vehicles parked beside it, and to the garage door, but firefighters were able to prevent the house from sustaining any major damages or catching on fire.

One end of Brimacombe Drive was blocked off to allow the fire fighters to have the proper space and access to the driveway and residence.
