A vigil will be held in Estevan Friday afternoon in honour of the 215 Indigenous children whose remains that were found near a former residential school site in Kamloops, B.C., on May 28.
The ceremony will be hosted by the Métis Nation-Saskatchewan Estevan Local No. 25 at 1:30 p.m. in front of Estevan City Hall.
There will be drums and prayers in Michif, Cree and English.
The Métis Nation-Saskatchewan Estevan Local No. 25 wants to recognise those who suffered and died because of the residential schools.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
Speakers include Elder Michael Lonechild from the White Bear First Nations, Elder Norm Fleury from Saskatoon and Estevan Mayor Roy Ludwig.
