Volunteering program to be held at the library

A Volunteering Initiative Program will be held at the Weyburn Public Library early next week. The sessions run from Monday, July 18 to Thursday, July 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. There are activities and exercises included in every workshop.

A Volunteering Initiative Program will be held at the Weyburn Public Library early next week.
The sessions run from Monday, July 18 to Thursday, July 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. There are activities and exercises included in every workshop.
The Monday sessions are themed around ‘Culture’, and the role and history of volunteerism in the world and in Canada.
The Tuesday session is ‘Cultural Awareness’. This workshop includes discussion on stereotypes and their dangers, identification of volunteering skills, interests and talents and responsibilities and rights of volunteers.
The Wednesday session will discuss non-profit organizations, their structure, and the way to operate a non-profit organization. There will be discussion on global and international volunteering opportunities.
Finally, on Thursday, there will be discussion on some of the non-profit organizations in the region, plus volunteering opportunities with those groups.
Organizations involved in the program in Weyburn include: Big Brothers and Sisters, Weyburn Salvation Army, Sun Country Health Region, Crocus Plain Villa (home care),Weyburn Red Wings, Blue Earth Recycling, Weyburn Kids Sport, Weyburn Public Library, the Weyburn Mental Health Association, the Canadian Red Cross, the Weyburn Health International and the Weyburn and District United Way.
