The City of Weyburn is currently in the process of preparing the Soo Line Historical Museum for its reopening on March 19, 2016. They are seeking for volunteers to join the newly-established “Friends of the Soo Line Historical Museum” group.
Volunteers are a vital part of the success at the Soo Line Historical Museum. The Friends of the Soo Line Historical Museum will assist with events, tours and setting up displays at the museum.
The Soo Line Historical Museum provides people an opportunity to learn about the history of Weyburn. The museum, which also serves as a tourist information centre, is located in a 100-year-old former power station.
Its displays include artifacts used by Weyburn and area pioneers.
Feature displays include the Charles Wilson Silver Collection (at over 5,000 pieces, considered the world’s largest private silver collection) and the Saskatchewan Mental Hospital display.
