Walk to Remember

The third annual “Walk to Remember” for Weyburn will be held on Saturday, October 15 at Riverside Park.
The “Walk to Remember” is an event to remember any pregnancies that didn’t make term, any babies born stillborn, or any babies who passed. The event is open to any residents who want to support local families who are remembering their babies. The one-hour walk will start at 2 p.m., with a special balloon release.
Lisa Loustel, organizer of the Walk to Remember, said that the tribute ceremony can be a way for parents to remember their child, and also to share the moment with others who have experienced a similar tragedy to their family.
It is also a great way for the community to come out and support others who are grieving the loss of a child.
Seven years ago, Lisa lost her daughter, and during that time felt alone. “I feel that the Walk to Remember is very important for Weyburn, so that no other parent feels alone.”
That support is very important to Amanda Payne, who lost her infant son recently and will be participating in the Walk to Remember for the first time. “I feel that this is a good event for the whole community to be involved in.”
The City of Weyburn also recently signed a proclamation declaring that October 15 as “Pregnancy and Infant Loss Day”.
Also hosted during the the “Walk to Remember” will be bouncy castles stations provided by Seitz’s Rentals and Supplies, coffee provided by McDonald’s and snacks available for all participants. There is no registration fee, but a silver collection will be taken to help support the Family Place.
