Weyburn bridge players compete in Regional Tournament

The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge meets on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. and Thursdays at 1 p.m. at the Wheatland Seniors Centre. All bridge players are welcome to come and play duplicate bridge.

The Weyburn Duplicate Bridge meets on Monday evenings at 7 p.m. and Thursdays at 1 p.m. at the Wheatland Seniors Centre.  All bridge players are welcome to come and play duplicate bridge.
Congratulations to club members Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart who placed second overall in the B event in a Regional Tournament held in Regina on April 28.
In regular club play, on April 2, there were five and a half tables, with first place going to Lydia Milleker and Lucie Nickel, second place went to Jim Kaz and John Whitell, third place went to Jean Knibbs and Jim Brown, who edged out Linda Kot and Theresa Istace who came fourth.
Five tables played on April 5 and the winners were Barry Mactaggart and Lucie Nickel; second place finishers were Marg Stewart and Diane Bell, third went to Isabelle Butters and Millie Nimegeers, while Gord Bell and Jim Kaz placed fourth.
April 9 also had five tables in play and in a close race Gord Bell and Jim Kaz took first, Terry Bendickson and John Whitell came second, Barry Mactaggart and Marg Stewart placed third, and Jean Knibbs and Jim Brown were fourth.
With six tables playing on April 12 Gord Bell and Marg Stewart finished in first; Barry Mactaggart and Jim Kaz placed second; Jean Knibbs and Jim Brown were third; Isabelle Butters and Millie Nimegeers were fourth followed closely by Lucie Nickel and Linda Kot who came fifth.
April 16 had four and a half tables in play and Gord Bell and Marg Stewart took top honours; Lucie Nickel and Lydia Milleker placed second; Dave and Terry Creurer were third; and Barry Mactaggart and Diane Bell came fourth.
On April 19 with five tables playing, Jim Brown and Reggie Franks claimed first place; Barry Mactaggart and Lucie Nickel finished second; Gord Bell and Bev Johnston came third, and Fred Milleker and Erskine Sandiford were fourth.
Four and a half tables played on April 23 and Diane Bell and Marg Stewart finished in first place; Jim Kaz and Denis Tremblay came second; Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart were third; and Erskine and Mildred Sandiford placed fourth.
April 26 had four and a half tables and with a strong game at 73.6 percent Gord Bell and Barry Mactaggart were the leaders; Diane Bell and Jim Kaz placed second; John Whitell and Boyd Stewart were third; and Richard Wanner and Denis Tremblay came fourth.
The final game of the month held on April 30 had three tables in play, and top honours went to Barry Mactaggart and Boyd Stewart, while second place went to Marg Stewart and Garnet Hart.
