Weyburn hosts a successful Wildlife Convention

The 86th Annual Saskatchewan Wildlife Federations Convention was held in Weyburn on February 19 - 21. This was the first time that Weyburn has hosted the three day event.

Leko was one of several recipients of an award at the annual SWF convention awards banquet held at the Cugnet Centre on February 21.

The 86th Annual Saskatchewan Wildlife Federations Convention was held in Weyburn on February 19 - 21.


This was the first time that Weyburn has hosted the three day event. The Cugnet Centre provided the perfect location for the nearly 300 members of the SWF from across the province to gather.


The full schedule included presentations, keynote addresses, open question periods, reports, fundraising, and an awards banquet.


The SWF Awards and Presentations banquet, which was held on Saturday evening, concluded the weekend.


The catered banquet was followed by the presentations and awards. Darrell Crabbe served as the emcee for the evening. Presentations were given for Best Resolution, Photography (Wildlife & Scenery), Clayton Young Memorial Awards, Ed Begin Conservation Project Award, Lorne Topley Memorial Stewardship Award, Resource Management Conservation Award and the Gordon Lund Memorial Conservation Award.


To finish off the evening, attendees enjoyed an evening of DJ and karaoke entertainment.


According to the president of the Weyburn Wildlife Federation, Tim Kerslake, the convention had a great response. Delegates enjoyed the food, the Cugnet Centre as a location for the convention and hospitality of the Travelodge hotel.
