Weyburn man charged with attempted murder in stabbing

A 35-year-old Weyburn man, Dustin McFadden, appeared in Weyburn provincial court Tuesday morning to face eight charges, including attempted murder. Early on Monday morning, at approximately 3 a.m.

A 35-year-old Weyburn man, Dustin McFadden, appeared in Weyburn provincial court Tuesday morning to face eight charges, including attempted murder.
Early on Monday morning, at approximately 3 a.m., Weyburn Police Service received a complaint from a 28-year-old female who was at her residence in a rural area north of Weyburn. City police arrived on scene and arrested an adult male. Weyburn RCMP was contacted and began an investigation as the residence is located within Weyburn RCMP jurisdiction. 
Initial investigation revealed that an adult male entered the complainant’s residence and an altercation took place. A 43-year-old male who was sleeping in the basement of the residence heard yelling. A second altercation took place in the basement of the residence and the 43-year-old male was able to gain control until Weyburn Police Service arrived on scene. The 43-year-old male was transported to Weyburn General Hospital with apparent stab wounds. His condition is unknown at this time.
Dustin Hayes McFadden of Weyburn is charged with one count of attempted murder, section 239(1)(b) of the Criminal Code; two counts of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code; one count, obstruction of a peace officer, section 129(a) of the Criminal Code; and four counts of breach of an undertaking, section 145(3) of the Criminal Code.
McFadden made his first court appearance on Tuesday morning and was formally charged.
