Weyburn Parks Dept. to do basal spraying of elm trees

Saskatchewan Drive is one of the areas to undergo basal spraying by the City of Weyburn's Parks Department

The City of Weyburn Parks Department will be basal spraying elm trees for control of Dutch Elm Disease in the City from Oct. 4 to 8, weather permitting.

Spraying operations will be conducted between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m., on the following streets in the area:

· South
 Hill: First Avenue South to 10th Avenue South; Government Road to Confederation Drive

· Northwest
 area: First Avenue NW to Third Avenue NW; Scott Crescent to Elgin Street; Saskatchewan Drive

· North
: First Avenue North to Fifth Avenue North; Windsor Street to King Street

· Northeast: First Avenue NE to Eaglesham Avenue; 16th Street to Dieppe Drive

Operations will cease between 8-9 a.m. and over the lunch hour from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., when students will be walking to and from school.

Parks staff will only enter properties where written authorization was provided, in addition to the spraying of city-owned boulevard trees.

Orange flagging tape is used to indicate which trees will be treated. Children and pets should be kept away from the flagged trees for a period of 24 hours after the elm tree has been sprayed.
