The Weyburn Police Service received three calls of break and enters on Sept. 6, including the following. The lock was cut off of the Purolator shed on the Suds City Co-op property; Marley's Dance Effex was entered and a large sum of money was taken from their cash box; and a residential garage located in the central part of Weyburn had its lock broken and one of the residents had his vehicle stereo stolen.

A 56-year-old male was bitten by a dog that jumped a fence and went into his yard on Sept. 1. As a result, a 61-year-old male was charged under the city's dog bylaw for his dog being at large.
Police conducted a routine traffic stop on Sept. 1 and found a 49-year-old male to be intoxicated. He was arrested for impaired driving and transported to Weyburn Police Service where he provided breath samples that were over the legal limit. As a result, he was charged under the Criminal Code for impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle while being over .08. Court is set for later this month.
Police were called to attend a residence of a 47-year-old female who had been assaulted by a 29-year-old male on Sept. 7. The matter is still under investigation.
Police attended a local restaurant on Sept. 7 in regard to a male who was locked in the washroom and was not responding. Police gained entry and found a 21-year-old intoxicated male. He was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place, lodged in cells and released when sober.
Police received a call that someone broke the rear window of a Pontiac Sunfire on Sept. 7. Anyone with information about this mischief is encouraged to contact Weyburn Police Service or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Police received a call on Sept. 7 that a 35-year-old female had been assaulted by a 40-year-old male while at White Bear. Weyburn Police Service and Victim Services assisted the female and the file was forwarded to the RCMP for further investigation.
Police attended a local alcohol establishment and assisted staff with a male patron who would not pay his tab. The situation was rectified with the tab being settled.
Police left the scene without further incident.
The police bicycle patrol located a 19-year-old male snorting cocaine outside of a local alcohol establishment on Aug. 25. Consequently, he was arrested and charged under section 4(1) of the Control Drugs & Substance Act for unlawfully possessing the controlled substance of cocaine. Court was set for September.
Police attended a domestic dispute between a 24-year-old male and his 23-year-old female partner on Aug. 25. Police assisted the couple with their problems and left the scene without further incident.
Police received three reports of vehicle tires being slashed and/or punctured on Aug. 27. Two incidents occurred on South hill while the other was on Windsor Street.

On the same night, unknown individual(s) took a fire extinguisher from a local apartment building and sprayed numerous vehicles with it. Anyone with any information about these incidents is also encouraged to contact the Weyburn Police Service or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Police attended a local store in regard to a fraud in progress on Aug. 27. As a result, a 45-year-old female was arrested after trying to cash an illegitimate cheque.
Investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending.
Throughout the summer, Police patrols have located numerous abandoned bicycles around the city. Citizens are encouraged to purchase a City bicycle licence at the Weyburn Police Service. Bicycle licenses cost $5 and are valid for the life of the bicycles. Bicycles with licences can promptly be returned to their rightful owners.
Bicycles that have been lost or stolen that do not have licences or proper serial number records and which are not claimed will be sold at auction. To minimize the risk of your bike being stolen please ensure that bicycles are secured both at home and when in use.
Over the past weekend, four citizens reported their vehicles had been vandalized. Incidents occurred near Fifth and First Avenue, Government Road, and South Hill.

The Weyburn Police Service continues to receive calls about untidy and unsightly property and alleys behind private property. Weyburn City Bylaw 2004-3021 for Property Maintenance and Nuisance Abatement states that untidy and unsightly property is defined as accumulation of new or used lumber, cardboard, paper, newspaper, appliances, tires, cans, barrels, scrap metal or other waste materials or junk. Please take the time to assure that your property and the alleys behind are free and clear of these materials.
In addition, maintenance of overgrown grass and weeds in the alley located behind your property are the responsibility of those in charge of that property. The Property Maintenance and Nuisance Abatement bylaw defines "overgrown," as in excess of 20 centimeters in height.
Those citizens who have not taken care of such matters will initially be receiving reminder letters in their mailboxes.
Three cases of untidy and unsightly property are currently before the courts and one individual is awaiting sentencing. If you receive a letter of reminder, we appreciate your co-operation in helping keep Weyburn clean.
