Weyburn Police investigate blue minivan

Weyburn Police Services received a Crime Stoppers tip stating a blue mini van parked at a local business parking lot that had two flat tires and a gun in it on November 5.

Police responded and found the vehicle with two firearms located within the back of the van, guns were seized and investigation is ongoing.

* Police Services responded to numerous accidents and hit and runs over the past week and would like to remind motorists that with the cooler temperatures and chance for ice and snow on the roads to drive accordingly and take care.

On November 10, police responded to a domestic disturbance, the parties were separated one was brought to the station until a friend could pick them up. Police escorted the complainant back to the residence to keep the peace while they got some belongings.

*Police responded to a local hotel of a report of a break and enter on November 9, upon arrival police found that a very intoxicated male had entered an unlocked door and was not sure where he was. The man was arrested without incident and placed in cells for the night until sober. No charges were laid.

Also on November 9, police responded to a domestic disturbance on Hartney Ave. Police deescalated the situation and an adult male subject agreed to leave the residence for the night and was taken to a local hotel.

RCMP notified the Weyburn Police that they recovered a vehicle just outside the city with a stolen plate on it. Police found after an investigation that the vehicle was stolen from Barber Motors lot on November 9. Investigation is ongoing.

* Police received a complaint of tools stolen out of a Sask Power truck on November 8. Police remind people to keep all valuables out of site and vehicles locked at all times including tool boxes. The investigation is ongoing.

A crossbow was stolen from a residence on Souris Ave November 8. Anyone with information on this is asked to contact Weyburn Police Service or Crime Stoppers.

Police responded to the exhibition grounds for a report of two vehicles racing around doing doughnuts in the parking lot on November 8. Police attended and observed two vehicles driving erratically. The drivers were stopped and charged.

* Police charged a driver with impaired driving as a result of a traffic stop on 1st Ave N on November 7. The driver will appear in court later this month.

* Police received a complaint reporting a credit card fraud at a local hotel on November 5. Police resolved the situation and payment was made using a debit card. One of the subjects of the complaint was found to be in breach of their probation they were arrested charged and released for a court appearance later this month.

Police received a complaint of a phone scam on November 5 where the victim was told her nephew was in trouble in Peru and needed money. The victim forwarded the funds thinking they were helping a family member. The incident remains under investigation. Police want to remind all residence to check with your local Police before ever sending money when receiving one of these calls.
