Police conducted a traffic stop on Railway Ave. on May 27; as a result the driver, a 28 year old male was given a 24-hour driving suspension for drinking and driving.
City police received a complaint on May 27 in regards to an individual receiving unwanted text messages from another person. Police spoke to the individual responsible and advised them to have no further contact with the complainant.
Police attended to a local hotel to deal with a fight late on May 28. The person who initiated the conflict had left prior to police arriving. The individual could not be identified and there was no further police action required.
Police attended to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Alexander Street and Second Avenue on May 28. One vehicle was towed from scene and there were no injuries.
City police received a complaint from the mother of a 20-year-old female being assaulted by her boyfriend on May 28. Investigation revealed that the female had been in conflict with her boyfriend the previous evening. She indicated to police that she did not want to pursue the matter with police involvement.
Police responded to a minor accident in the 400 block of Souris Avenue on May 29. Parties exchanged information and were directed to attend insurance with the matter.
A 28-year-old man from Weyburn was charged with assault and resisting arrest as a result of police being dispatched to a home in northeast Weyburn regarding a domestic dispute on May 29. Police arrested and charged the male for assaulting his 26-year-old female companion. The accused will be making a court appearance later this month.
A 55-year-old man from Weyburn was charged for leaving the stop sign before safe after causing an accident at the intersection of Government Road and First Ave S on Wednesday. The accused was traveling east and struck a northbound car. Two occupants of the car were taken to the hospital complaining of minor injuries. One vehicle had to be towed from scene.
A 22-year-old man from Weyburn contacted police on Thursday, reporting that during the night someone had stolen his truck from his back yard. Investigation revealed that the truck was involved in an accident with a mini-van at the intersection of Highway 13 and the Khedive turnoff. Further Investigation found that the truck's owner had driven to Pangman and that at about midnight while returning, he struck the back of the van while it was parked on the shoulder of the highway. The driver was charged for lying to the police and driving while disqualified under the Criminal Code. The accused will appear in court next month.
Police were dispatched to a fight in behind a local hotel at 2:45 a.m. on Friday. One person involved had left the scene prior to police attending. The group was sent on their way without further incident.
Police were also sent to a fight in the 900 block of Bison Avenue late Friday evening. Police located two males, aged 28 and 23 respectively, fighting in the street. Both were charged under the fighting bylaw and taken home.
City police were called to a family dispute late Friday evening. Investigation revealed that a parent and child were arguing over rules and cell phones. Police were able to mediate the situation.
Early Saturday morning, police were called to a domestic dispute in the northeast area of Weyburn. Alcohol was the main contributing factor in the conflict. Police mediated the situation and both parties stayed in the home.
A 75-year-old woman was taken to hospital following a two-vehicle accident on Saturday. While stopped for a railway crossing, the vehicle the 75-year-old person was in was struck from behind.
City police received a complaint late Saturday night that an individual was assaulted in a civil dispute. The individual reported that while making a collection he was assaulted by the home owner. The incident is still under investigation.
Also late on Saturday, police attended to a report of two intoxicated individuals causing problems outside the Curling Rink. The two were taken into custody as they were observed committing mischief to a sign, and were heavily intoxicated. The 25-year-old male was charged for mischief and resisting arrest and his 24-year-old counterpart was also charged with mischief. They will make a court appearance next month.
Police received a complaint on Sunday morning of mischief done to a home-owner's property the previous evening. Someone had thrown something and broken his front window. Investigation also found several of his solar lights had been broken. Investigation is ongoing.
City police responded to a complaint late Sunday afternoon about a group of people in Don Mitchell park drinking beer. Police located a 19-year-old male and issued him a ticket for drinking in public.
