On June 1, members of the Weyburn Police Service conducted a vehicle stop and found the 23 year old female driver was exhibiting signs of impairment by alcohol. The subsequent investigation resulted in the female driver being arrested and charged with over .08. She was released from custody and will appear in court later this month.
On May 31, police received a complaint of a domestic assault, when the 35 year old female victim made her way to the Police Station. The subsequent investigation resulted in a 46 year old male being arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm. He was later released from custody and will appear in court later this month.
On May 30, the Weyburn Police Service, EMS and the Weyburn Fire Department attended to a two vehicle accident on First Avenue NE when a car pulling onto the street was hit by a westbound semi. The occupants of the car were taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries and kept for observation. The accident remains under investigation.
On May 29, the Weyburn Police Service, EMS and Weyburn Fire Department attended to a motor vehicle accident between a motorcycle and a car at Highway 39 and 16th Street. The driver of the motorcycle, a 25 year old male, was taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries. The circumstances of the accident remain under investigation.
On May 29, police received a complaint of an attempt fraud where an individual had received a phone call stating they were from Revenue Canada and were part of Revenue Collections. When requested to give their agent number they were evasive and eventually hung up. Everyone is again reminded to be aware of potential telephone frauds and to not give personal information of send money to someone you do not know.
On May 27, police received a report of a hit and run that had occurred on Government Road; the subsequent investigation located both the offending vehicle and driver. The male driver was charged under the Traffic Safety Act for following to close.
On May 26, police received a report of a vehicle which had been parked on Barber Crescent being damaged by having a window smashed. There were no suspects and the incident remains under investigation.
On May 26, police received a report of a hit and run which had occurred in the east area of Weyburn. The incident remains under investigation.
