Weyburn Police Service welcomed a new officer on July 31.

Kalin Wiebe has been working on dispatching and records management for the past two months at the station and will start regular patrol as a constable upon his return from police college.

"I've always wanted to go into policing. I didn't have a family member who was, I just grew up wanting to get into policing," said Wiebe.

Wiebe comes to Weyburn from Swift Current.

"I'm extremely excited to start. Eventually I'd like to get into collision analysis," he said.

Upon return from police college, Wiebe will be matched with a senior officer for field training.
