Weyburn Credit Union Workplace Excellence Award
WOY Workplace Excellent

JOAN (ROTHEISLER) LUNDE
nominated by Deanna and Brad Stewart
In 1998, Joan Lunde began working at Stewart Steel Inc., a steel fabrication company with 25 to 35 employees that caters to agricultural, oilfield and industrial sectors. She has filled an integral role in their work place ever since. Joan started primarily in accounting, her accuracy with numbers being second to none. Accounting is still the major part of her work, but over the years her position has expanded to an administrative role with a strong presence in Human Resources. Joan makes sure “to the penny” that bank accounts balance, that Stewart Steel does not over pay for materials, that employees’ time sheets are accurate, that freight companies charge what they quote, that remittances are made exactly on time, as well as ensuring that all business financial details are “correct”.
Many of the lessons come from her passion of the sport of baseball which she began to play as a teenager, she still applies to her life and especially her work life. Joan was a pitcher … pitchers are precise. Many of the letters from her co-workers and employers show how valuable this is in her day to day work.
Joan’s integrity and care is appreciated by all the team members at Stewart Steel as they know she has their best interests at heart! This concern and consideration extends beyond work place borders and she always takes time to listen, help or give a little advice.
Joan does an admirable job of balancing her work, family and personal interests. Joan’s vacations are most often spent with some or all of her four boys, their spouses and her two grandchildren. She is always enthusiastic to take on new personal challenges, but yet is diligent in doing her part of the work load, conscious of company schedules and deadlines.
In the last 17 years, there has been tremendous growth and change at Stewart Steel. Joan has been instrumental in helping their customers, employees, suppliers and the company succeed. Her focus to get the job done and get it done right is what makes her so valuable in the work place. Joan’s passion, dependability and desire to do her Best at whatever comes her way is outstanding.

REBECCA BOWERIN
nominated by Suzette Relucio
Rebecca’s teaching career started out non–traditionally, teaching art classes at Signal Hill Arts Centre. After which she moved to the Weyburn Comprehensive School and became their first Educational Assistant. While continuing to work as an EA and teaching sign language at Southeast College she went to university to receive her Bachelor of education and is currently working on her Masters.
Rebecca started working at the Southeast Community College as English as Another Language teacher in 2010 and continues to work there. Her drive and passion for higher learning can be attributed to her parents. Rebecca also passes this drive and passion onto her students encouraging them to further their education and to pursue their goals. Her main goal is to meet all her students’ needs and support them through a successful community integration process. She does this with a smile and enthusiasm.
Rebecca has recently taken on a new role leading the Portfolio Based Language Assessment Cohort One pilot group. This role has allowed her to mentor other “English as Another Language” instructors and share her proven practices with them. She is always available to help new instructors during their orientations.

She is a great asset to the College and serves as an inspiration to her students and others, and is a worthy nominee for the Weyburn Credit Union Workplace Excellence award.
