The annual Quota International Women of the Year awards were presented on April 18.
Pam Kwochka received the Credit Union Workplace Excellence Award.
She was recognized for her work with the Weyburn Housing Authority. “There’s lots of change. There’s never the same day twice, which is always very nice. I enjoy the people.”
“I love our tenants, both the families and the seniors. They are very different. There’s lots of excitement all of the time, and a good excitement.”
Pam has worked with Weyburn Housing Authority since 1999 in a variety of capacities. She regularly exceeds the expectations of the board and tenants and is spoken of very highly by everyone she encounters.
Rose McInnes won the Access Communications Exceptional Entrepreneur Award. She owns Blue Earth Environmental.
“I have come a long way and couldn’t have done it with out some much needed support from my staff and my friends. These people are like the back bone of everything I can do and accomplish.”
“The community who help support us. To my hubby and my kids, who sacrificed a lot for me, thank you so much. To my mum, who helped me through this, you are my woman of the year.”
Rose’s work has been so outstanding she was nominated by Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce for the ABEX Awards and was one of the three finalists in the Environmental Category.
Stephanie Schmidt was the recipient of the Investors Group Young Woman of Distinction Award.
When asked about the role she plays in the community and how other young women can get involved Schmidt said “just be yourself and do what you want to do.”
“Follow your heart. Nothing is ever impossible and it’s never too late to start something that you want to do. Just go for it!”
Stephanie is employed with Sun Country Health Region as a Primary Care Paramedic and is currently enrolled in Holland College with the goal of completing an Advanced Care Paramedic Program.
Natosha Hala received the M Isabelle Butters Quota International of Weyburn Community Service Award.
Natosha Hala was nominated for her role in rallying the community of Griffin around their local rink and other projects.
“It is important to come on out and volunteer,” said Hala. “The more volunteers we get the more we can accomplish and the more you can feel proud of yourself for getting involved, and creating a great future for our kids in our small community.”
Natosha’s enthusiasm extends beyond her community and she has been a major contributor to raising awareness and funds for an orphanage and children in need through Oksana’s Harvest Ukraine Orphan Outreach. Through her business, she supports the Humane Society, Big Brothers and Sisters, Weyburn Minor Hockey and soccer, to name a few.
Quota International supports numerous community projects such as the toy lending library, Weyburn Music Festival, Envision Counseling and the Family Place.
