Young offenders cause damage to local businesses

On July 7, while the police bike patrol was conducting a patrol of Jubilee Park, they located a large group of about 30 youth. One individual was charged with open liquor in public and the group was dispersed with no further incidents.

Also on July 7, police received a complaint of a theft from a motor vehicle, which had been parked in the northeast area of the city. A red eight-inch Powerbuilt gas posthole auger was stolen from the back of the truck. There are no suspects at this time and the matter remains under investigation.

On July 5, police were called to a local bar in regard to a disturbance and fight in the parking lot. The individuals involved were not cooperative with police but one of the involved individuals was given a ride home so that further problems would be avoided.

On July 4, police observed two youths walking down a residential street smoking a marijuana cigarette and stopped them. The subsequent investigation resulted in more marijuana being found on one of the youths. The male young offender was charged with possession of Cannabis and appeared in court on July 4.

On July 3, police received a complaint of two intoxicated males who were causing problems and fighting by the fair grounds. Police located the two individuals and removed them from the area by taking them to their residence. No charges were laid.

On July 2, police were called to a report of individuals on the roof of a business on Railway Avenue and they appeared to be causing damage. Police attended and located two female youths on the roof. One female fled as police were arriving on scene while the other remained stuck on the roof. The remaining female was arrested and charged with mischief, resisting arrest and breach of probation. The accused, a young offender, made her first court appearance on July 3.

Also on July 2, police received a complaint that a 2008 Ford F 250 was stolen over night from the northeast area of Weyburn. The stolen vehicle was located later that day by police. The matter remains under investigation.

On July 1, a complaint was received from a local bar of a male causing a disturbance. Police attended and located the 32-year-old male, who was subsequently arrested and charged with obstructing a Police Officer. He will be making his first court appearance on August 7.

Also on July 1, while police were attending a call at a local bar, they observed a male tampering with their police bikes. The 25-year-old male was arrested and charged with mischief. He will be making his first court appearance on August 7.

The Weyburn Police Service also attended to five noisy party complaints this week. One incident resulted in two male young offenders being charged with possession of alcohol by a minor.
