Bruins trade Kauk to Selkirk, again, for futures

The third time was a charm for Tyler Kauk and the Estevan Bruins.

After trading him twice previously, only for both deals to be reversed, the Bruins sent Kauk to the Selkirk Steelers (MJHL) on Monday for future considerations.

The futures include cash and a player to be named later, either in the off-season or early in the 2014-15 season.

"It's kind of a relief. It doesn't really help us short term, but long term we're going to get a good return," said Bruins head coach and general manager Chris Lewgood.

"Ideally, we would've found a player for now, but we had to settle on the futures being next year."

Kauk had three goals and 22 points last season.

The 20-year-old defenceman from Winnipeg had originally been traded to the Flin Flon Bombers in July for prospect Connor Vermeulen, but that went by the wayside later when neither player reported to their new teams. Vermeulen's family moved to Alberta, meaning he couldn't play in Saskatchewan as a 17-year-old.

In September, Kauk was dealt to Selkirk for defenceman Damian Wallack, but that was also voided, with Lewgood saying the reason was Wallack's conditions for coming to Estevan.
