DeLaet earns $44K at the Puerto Rico Open, ties 18th

This was the seventh event of the 2013 Professional Golf Association Tour for the former Weyburn local. DeLaet has earned $423,924 so far this year, and is ranked 48th on the FedExCup.

During the first round of the Puerto Rico Open, DeLaet opened with a 70, two-under-par. He started on the front nine, where he shot two birdies on holes two and seven, then one bogey on hole eight.

Then during the back nine, he stayed on par for the first five holes, then birdied hole 15, bogeyed hole 16 and finished with a birdie on hole 18.

Returning to the course for round two, DeLaet started on the back nine and shot three birdies, on holes 13, 15 and 18. Then during the front nine, he had one bogey on hole 1, then back-to-back birdies on holes five and six. He finished the round at 68, four-under-par.

With a total of six-under-par, DeLaet was well above the cut line set after two rounds, which was two-under-par.

DeLaet had his best score of the tournament during round three, when he shot 67, five-under-par. He started on the front nine, and had three back-to-back birdies on holes three, four and five. The remainder of the front nine holes were shot at par.

Then during the back nine, DeLaet had a birdie on hole 13, a bogey on hole 14, and then birdies on holes 15 and 17.

In the final round, DeLaet started on the front nine again. He stayed on par for the first five holes, then birdies on hole six and had one bogey, on hole eight.

Then during the back nine, he birdied on hole 10 and bogeyed on hole 11. He shot par on holes 12 through 15, then hit another birdie on hole 16 and finished the course with a birdie on hole 18. His score was 70, two-under-par.

DeLaet's total score for the Puerto Rico Open was 275, 13-under-par. He was the second ranked Canadian at the course, with David Hearn tying eighth.

According to DeLaet's performance stats for this year, he is currently ranked sixth overall in the PGA for greens in regulation percentage. His average driving distance is 300.8 yards, and DeLaet is ranked 13th overall.

The next tournament for DeLaet will be the Tampa Bay championship on Mar. 14 to 17 in Florida.
